ROB TOOKE

Rob is an energetic multimedia journalist with five years of experience in the news industry. He embraces the familiar: breaking news in a fast-paced setting. Storytelling and oratory are Rob’s greatest interests.

Born in the historic citrus town of Redlands, California, Rob was exposed to the news cycle early on. He watched local news throughout middle school, becoming fascinated by the daily reports, the talent, and the serious attitude in delivering news. Eager to learn, Rob joined his high school’s student newspaper, The Hobachi. At UC Berkeley, Rob continued to produce long-print journalism. He was a reporter and an editor at The Daily Californian, the university’s independent student-led newspaper.

While completing his senior thesis in 2018, Rob joined CBS 5 San Francisco as a production assistant. Over 36 months, Rob would be promoted twice, ultimately capping his time at KPIX-TV as an associate digital line producer, responsible for the launch of the innovative 24/7 streaming platform, CBSN Bay Area.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rob relocated to Midland-Odessa, Texas, a community known for football and “Friday Night Lights,” oil and gas production, pickup trucks, and fried chicken establishments. He served as the lead reporter for ABC 2 and FOX 24 for two years, and as the ABC 2 weekend anchor for one year.

Rob’s contract expired in January, 2023. He spent ten months traveling and spending precious time with family. Now, Rob is looking for new job opportunities in New York City.

Rob also goes by the name Bobby and Robert, but not Bob. He does respond to ‘Hey, TV Guy!’ on the streets.
